This page is the "jumping off point" for the routes and the logs of this year's Inside Passage adventures on the Itsuro. Thanks to Wally Parham, at Cabrillo College, I have learned some rudimentary html coding, so I was hoping to update this site as we go along, rather than leaving that monumental task for the end of the summer. On the other hand, I want to experience our trip, more than I want to develop a website about it. So I continue to find that balance. Also, Internet access is quite variable among marinas, and because of our slow speed, we spend far more time underway and in remote anchorages.
Midsummer update and "geek notes": Technical problems with my computer, and the loss of a camera caused me to suspend my website updates while underway, which wasn't really such a bad thing.
I used to only use PCs. However my workplace only uses Apples, so I made the "switch." As a teacher/instructional designer/technologist, it's good for me to be "bilingual" with operating systems. My two-year-old iBook G4 has been a great workhorse over the past couple of years. Once I returned to Santa Cruz, I sent it in for repair, and it was back to me in less than 48 hours. Gotta love that 3-year Applecare warranty plan!
The marine electronics we had installed, including a Garmin integrated GPS/Radar/Depth-Finder worked flawlessly all summer long. Special thanks to San Juan Electronics. for their expert installation, and extensive time spent aboard Itsuro to ensure that the systems run smoothly.
