We've named our Allweather Itsuro in honor of a loved mentor, John Itsuro Kitsuse. John looked after us from the time we came to Santa Cruz, until his passing. John supported us through many of our life transitions, including our important career changes, marriage, the purchase of our first car, and the purchase of our first home. Itsuro was John's middle name, and was unique to him. His legacy lives on with us, and now with our boat as well.
The Itsuro is an 8-meter Allweather Voyager, designed and built by Homer Hughes. By chance, we found the Allweather in a fleeting ad on the C-Dory website. The Allweather has up to a 1500 mile range. We will enjoy the extra space, and so will our newest crew member: an Australian shepherd named Kyra.
Now we are preparing to spend our sixth Inside Passage summer aboard the "Itsuro," The Allweather is a really well-designed double-ender powered by a diesel Bukh 24, with a 1000-1500-mile range. We look forward to our new adventures on a boat with greater range, extraordinary fuel efficiency, and the ability to take bigger seas.

Settee and forward V-Berth |

The fold-out table: Looking forward toward the main seating area. Homer designed a very ingenious slide out table that unfolds to a good-sized chart/dining table. |
|
Helm Station: There is an inside helm station, as well as an outside tiller with a set of throttles on the starboard side. Everything is readily accessible. |
|
Passenger seat: The passenger seat folds down for extra counter space. |

The Bukh 24 Engine |

Another really neat idea is to use transluscent fiberglass to create an ultra-strong skylight. The result is plenty of light in the forward part of the boat. |
